Electrifying plan for the Princes Highway

Independent Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has used Parliament to place a Question on Notice calling for an electric vehicle plan for the Princes Highway.

“As we see the number of electric vehicles on our roads rise, I would like to see the Princes Highway become the first electrified highway,” Mr Ward said.

“Day tripper and short stay tourists from Sydney are a critical tourism market for our region and I want those electric vehicle owners from Sydney to know they can travel with confidence whilst enjoying the unspoilt environment of the South Coast.

“Electric vehicles are the future of private transport and I want our region to get ahead of the curve with a comprehensive plan that builds infrastructure that supports and attracts electric vehicle owners. “I am so proud of all the money I’ve secured for the Princes Highway, but I want to ensure that our highway is electric vehicle friendly and is ready to embrace the future of road transport,” Mr Ward concluded.
