INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF WOMEN

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has announced that local organisations with projects that empower women and promote their wellbeing are encouraged to apply for the NSW Government’s $1 million Investing in Women Funding Program.

Mr Ward is encouraging local organisations across the Kiama electorate to apply for funding under the latest round of the Investing in Women Funding Program.

“Alongside the NSW Women’s Strategy 2023-2026, the Investing in Women Funding Program will support increasing women’s workforce participation,” he said.

“I encourage local organisations to develop projects that advance the role, status and contributions of women and girls in our local communities.

“This is also about promoting women returning to the workforce and the extraordinary and diverse contribution which women make to our local communities,” Mr Ward said.

“Since 2013, the Investing in Women Funding Program has provided more than $3.3 million to more than 100 projects that support women and girls.

“I am also pleased to see that the State Government increased funding under this program to $1 million from this year.

“Previous projects and initiatives include a targeted workplace employer program to facilitate employers to be able to provide flexible opportunities for those with endometriosis and mentoring programs for girls interested in joining the trades sector.

“Encouraging more women into non-traditional trades and apprenticeships is also something I have championed as your local MP on major road projects including the Princes Highway upgrades, hospital upgrades and other local infrastructure projects,” Mr Ward concluded.

Funding applications close this Sunday 27th November 2022 at 11:59pm (AEDT).
