Ward Says Support Our Local Small Businesses

13 Jan 2020

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP is today encouraging people to visit the Shoalhaven and to support our local small businesses on the South Coast.

Mr Ward said that the recent bushfires have had a devastating impact on many local businesses.

“A great way for tourist and holidaymakers to show their support for our region is to visit our local small businesses, our cafes, our wineries, our local retail stores and our local clubs and support our hospitality industry,” he said.

“The Shoalhaven coastline boasts some of the most pristine and best beaches and award winning wineries in the State and indeed the country.

“Having grown up, worked and lived in this region my whole life, I know how strong and resilient our local towns and villages are. We have been through difficult times before and we are always stronger together. Now is the time to support our local small businesses by shopping locally,” Mr Ward said.

“So I say this to tourists - Think Gerringong instead of Greece, Berry and Bomaderry instead of Bali, Shoalhaven Heads instead of Singapore.

“Our shops and our towns are ‘Open for Business’ and I encourage people to choose the Shoalhaven as their next holiday destination.

“I am also encouraging residents and visitors to download the ‘Fires Near Me NSW’ and ‘Live Traffic’ apps on their smart phone devices and note that our National Parks will remain closed until 1st February 2020,” Mr Ward concluded.
