Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has asked the Premier to confirm whether his government will deliver promised infrastructure projects on the south coast following the announcement that the Federal Government will cut commonwealth infrastructure contributions.
Mr Ward said the Premier needs to be honest with our community about the future of promised projects.
“The question for Labor is simple. Will you deliver these projects or not?” Mr Ward asked.
“Earth to Labor. You are in government now. Stop making excuses and start delivering.
“Labor went to Federal and State elections promising the Nowra Bypass, further upgrades to the Princes Highway and the Milton-Ulladulla Bypass.
“Was this all just blatant electioneering or will the blame game now commence with no plan of action and delivery.
“The people of our community voted for Labor representatives on the basis that they would continue infrastructure investments further south and people are rightfully asking if any of these promises will become a reality.
“Labor representatives have tried to take credit for the Jervis Bay Road Interchange, the Nowra Bridge Project, the Shoalhaven Hospital upgrade and the new hospital at Shellharbour in spite of having had absolutely nothing to do with them.
“Labor just don’t build infrastructure. Even projects like the East Nowra Sub-Arterial which are supposed to be 100% state-funded are ‘in planning’ with no money to do the actual work.
“Having delivered billions of dollars to upgrade local infrastructure, I know how to get things done. If only roads and critical infrastructure were built on Labor’s Facebook posts, empty promises and media releases, all of this work would have been done yesterday,” Mr Ward concluded.
