Funding Secured For North Nowra Cambewarra Cricket Club Inc

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has presented funding to representatives from North Nowra Cambewarra Cricket Club Inc for the purchase and installation of increased equipment storage.

Mr Ward was joined at this announcement by Club President Justin Weller and Secretary Eleysha Weller during his visit to the club.

“I was extremely pleased to be able to secure this funding under the New South Wales Government’s Local Sport Grants Program which will go towards the purchase and installation of two 40 foot shipping containers for cricket equipment storage at the Bernie Regan Sporting Complex in North Nowra,” he said.

“The North Nowra Cambewarra Cricket Club Inc was first formed in 1991 and incorporated in 1994. So this season is the Club’s 30th anniversary. The club is a member of the Shoalhaven District Cricket Association and also the Shoalhaven District Junior Cricket Association.

“Securing grants like this makes all the difference for volunteer clubs. It means that club members can be more focused on cricket rather than selling raffle tickets.

“I would like to acknowledge the Club President Justin Weller, Vice-President Matt Hickmott, Secretary Eleysha Weller and Treasurer Rod Walsh who have all been tireless advocates for this great local cricket club,” Mr Ward said.

North Nowra Cambewarra Cricket Club President Mr Justin Weller also welcomed the funding announcement from Gareth Ward MP for Kiama.

“On behalf of North Nowra Cambewarra Cricket Club, I would like to say thank you to Mr Gareth Ward MP for Kiama on helping secure the funding to go towards upgrading our storage facilities,” Mr Weller said.

“The funding is a major step forward for the club. We have been at Bernie Regan for nearly 2 decades and have worked with the minimal storage this whole period.

“The club is growing every year and with growth comes more expenses and more equipment needed so this funding has come at the perfect time. Giving we have just bought new covers, mowers, bowling machines and more over the past couple of seasons it was very important to upgrade the storage facilities,” he said.

“Again, I would just like to say thank you to Mr Gareth Ward and his team for helping and supporting us to securing this funding.

“We greatly appreciate the work Mr Ward has done in helping us get this funding. It was a great pleasure in working with Mr Gareth Ward on securing these funds and we look forward to working with him in the near future when we can hopefully upgrade more of our facility,” Mr Weller concluded.
