Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has called on the NSW Government to advise the community when Moss Vale Road over Cambewarra Mountain will be fully re-open to traffic.
The road was closed in 2022 due to rain damage and a section of Moss Vale Road has been under 24/7 traffic signals since.
“They built the pyramids faster than we’ve seen Transport for NSW move on fixing Moss Vale Road over Cambewarra Mountain which is still under traffic singles It’s coming up to two years and we still don’t know when this road will be fixed. This is so unreasonable and the people of Kangaroo Valley deserve better and they certainly deserve answers,” Mr Ward said.
“We need the Minister to provide a detailed update as to when the Cambewarra Mountain Road repairs will be fully completed and fully reopen. The last update on the Transport for NSW website talks about some vegetation removal and geotechnical work. How can this possibly take over a year; its just infuriating.
“I have received numerous emails from concerned locals about how long this work is taking. It’s frustrating and the government needs to provide an update. We saw the Minister visit the region last year but there was no visit to the site of these works or an update on when they will be complete.
“It’s also impacted our local dairy and cattle farmers in Kangaroo Valley and small business operators who use this road everyday – and rely on this important section of road as part of their business and livelihood.
“All I’m asking the government to do is to stop keeping the community in the dark and be honest about when works will finish.
“These are reasonable questions and I will be raising this matter again with the NSW Government when the Parliament resumes shortly,” Mr Ward concluded.
