Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has extended his warm and sincere congratulations to Member for Shellharbour Anna Watson on her appointment as Parliamentary Secretary for Roads and Regional Roads.

“I genuinely and sincerely congratulate Ms Watson on this appointment. Having served as a Parliamentary Secretary and a Minister, I appreciate what Ms Watson will be feeling but I also know how these positions can be used to benefit the people of our region,” Mr Ward said.

“Ms Watson has committed to starting the Dapto On/Off Ramps by July and delivering on the promised additional and ‘urgent’ $20 million in funding for Tripoli Way. I welcome this commitment.

“I would also encourage Ms Watson to revisit the lights on the Oak Flats interchange and seek to have them removed. Ms Watson has expressed her support for their removal in the past and she’s now in a position to do something about it.

“I’m also keen for Ms Watson to support the campaign for the Nowra Bypass. We’ve secured funding from both Commonwealth and State Governments for planning, but we need to ensure this project continues to build momentum.

“With our new local roads Tsar, I have no doubt that Ms Watson will use her extensive skills and expertise to ensure our region gets its fair share of roads funding from the NSW Government.

“We don’t want excuses, we want outcomes and results and I stand ready to work with all members of the new NSW Government to get things done for our community,” Mr Ward concluded.
