Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has welcomed the completion of the seawall and waterside walk located at Black Beach, Kiama Harbour.
Mr Ward said it was welcome news for our local Kiama community.
“As your local MP and having helped to secure the funding needed for this project back in 2021 from the previous NSW Government, I'm so pleased that a key component of the Kiama foreshore revitalisation plan is now completed – and that our local community can enjoy all the benefits,” Mr Ward said.
“I acknowledge that whilst there were some delays, I did promise that revised works would be finished in the first part of 2023 and we’ve delivered it for the local community which is fantastic news.
“Whilst a formal opening will happen in the near future, I didn't want to wait for the photo op to see the project opened to the public,” he said.
“Whilst these funds were allocated by the former government, I’ll be lobbying the new Minister to continue to invest in projects that improve accessibility and the liveability of our local community.
“Works include a new seawall retaining walls, new street furniture and a seating area, a new accessible ramp, stainless steel handrails and balustrades, and landscaping,” Mr Ward concluded.
