Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today slammed the ANZ Bank for failing its customers in regional communities.
Mr Ward said he was extremely disappointed with the ANZ head office decision to close down its branch in Albion Park in February 2019 and transition their location to Stocklands Shellharbour.
“Customers are fed up with banks putting profits first – and people last,” he said.
“This is a disappointing decision as this closure will inconvenience many ANZ customers in Albion Park, particularly our seniors, many of whom will now have to organise transportation to Stocklands Shellharbour.
“The four pillars policy gives Australian banks unprecedented protection by the Australian Government. Banks like the ANZ should be taking care of their customers, not cutting its services in regional communities like Albion Park.
“This very poor decision taken by management in no way reflects upon the local ANZ staff who work very hard in the Albion Park branch.
“It is such a shame that regional communities have to suffer because of bad planning and top-heavy corporate management structures,” Mr Ward concluded.
