PARK PARKING POLICY FAILS SHELLHARBOUR AND WOLLONGONG

Independent Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has questioned why Illawarra and the South Coast Minister Ryan Park has announced free parking for Shoalhaven Hospital but not Wollongong Hospital and a future Shellharbour Hospital.

Whilst noting that the delivery of Labor’s policy on free parking at Shoalhaven Hospital is a month later than promised, Mr Ward welcomed free parking for Shoalhaven Hospital which he has been raising for several years.

“Why has the Minister for Health - also the Minister for Regional Health and Minister for the Illawarra and the South Coast, not provided for free parking at Wollongong and a future Shellharbour Hospital?’ Mr Ward said.

“In opposition, Labor complained about Wollongong being treated differently to the regions. Now in government, the whinger-in-chief who is also the Minister for the Illawarra and the South Coast, ignores the chance to deliver free parking at Wollongong Hospital.

“I have one question. Why?

“Wollongong Hospital is the flagship hospital for our region. It’s also the place where people from across the region come for major surgical procedures.  It should also be free.

“Having secured the funding to deliver the multi-storey parking facility at Shoalhaven Hospital, I’m delighted that Shoalhaven Hospital will have free parking.

“Whilst Labor haven’t met their own timeframe for free parking at Shoalhaven, I’m still happy it’s being delivered,’ Mr Ward concluded.
