MEMO TO MINNS: BRING BACK OUR BACK-TO-SCHOOL VOUCHERS

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today launched a new community petition calling on the NSW Minns Labor Government to reinstate the Back-to-School vouchers of $150 per child each year.

Mr Ward said: “Local residents shouldn’t have to pay the price for Chris Minns and the NSW Labor Government’s mismanagement of the State’s budget,” he said.

“Reinstating the back-to-school vouchers would also provide timely cost of living relief for many local families across our region who are currently feeling the financial burden of inflation, rising interest rates, and the rising cost of living pressures, in particular the growing impact of rising food prices at supermarket outlets.

“From textbooks to school uniforms, stationery and other school essentials, these vouchers need to be bought back for parents and caregivers to start buying supplies for the new school year.

“We want to ensure that every child attending school has the opportunity to strive for their best and reach their full potential in the classroom; and providing access to essential items for learning via this vouchers program for parents and guardians is a central component of that endeavour.

“It will also provide some welcome cost of living relief for many local families across the Kiama electorate,” Mr Ward concluded.
