FUNDING SECURED FOR NORTH SHOALHAVEN MEALS ON WHEELS

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today announced $13,060 funding for North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels to assist them to purchase a new walk-in freezer to increase production and to grow and expand its operations.

Mr Ward said he was extremely pleased to secure this funding under the State Government’s Community Building Partnerships program.

“This is wonderful news for North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels and will help with the purchase of a new walk-in freezer for the Nowra-Bomaderry service to enable additional storage of meals and ingredients, allowing the operators and volunteers to grow this extremely important service,” Mr Ward said.

“I want to acknowledge the incredible work these volunteers do. They assist many local residents in need across our Shoalhaven community.

“North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels is supported by 250 volunteers providing meals seven days a week to over 200 clients across the Shoalhaven.

“This is not an election commitment – its money in the bank!

“As your local MP, I love rolling up my sleeves, working hard, getting things done and securing grants for our local community groups and community organisations,” Mr Ward concluded.

Ms Angela Pendlebury, General Manager of North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels said:

“We have been desperate for this new walk-in freezer for some time – as we have been scrambling somewhat to keep up with requests – so this new facility will greatly benefit not just our service but all the people we help in the local community,” she said.

“We are extremely grateful to receive this funding as it will make a huge difference for our North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels service,” Ms Pendlebury concluded.
