Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward MP has today announced that Business Connect is teaming up with TAFE NSW as the Business Bus visits small businesses in the Illawarra on 14th-15th February, with Skills for Business advisors providing specialist advice on the TAFE NSW initiative.

Mr Ward is encouraging local small businesses across the Illawarra region to visit the Bus to find out how advisors can assist.

“The Business Bus is part of the NSW Government’s $30 million Business Connect Program, helping small businesses thrive in metropolitan and regional economies,” he said.

“TAFE NSW advisors will advise local business on subsidised business management and the digital and financial skills training available to them via the Skills for Business program.

“Speaking to an advisor can help a business operator take the vital next step. Advice is available whether they're just starting out, wanting to ensure their business is sustainable or aiming to go global,” Mr Ward said.

TAFE Digital General Manager Megan Aitken said the Skills for Business program gives business owners and employees free training in digital and financial literacy, cyber security and business management.

“Students can choose individual study units to build customised training programmes to meet their specific business needs.

“High quality training is available for full and part-time employees or owners of businesses with less than 200 employees.”

The Business Bus will visit the following locations between 9am-3pm:

  • City of Shellharbour – Wentworth Street, Shellharbour (carpark next to library) on Thursday 14 February; and
  • City of Wollongong – Crown Street Mall, Wollongong (in front of Wesley Church)  on Friday 15 February
