$4,782 Boost for Albion Park Men's Shed

02 Aug 2018 community group 2577

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has presented $4,782 funding to help upgrade the facilities at the Albion Park Men’s Shed.

Mr Ward said that he was extremely pleased to secure funding from the New South Wales Berejiklian Government for this local community group.

“I’m very pleased that this funding will allow the Albion Park Men’s Shed to undertake the fit out and completion of their metal working area,” he said.

“Men’s sheds give men a place to congregate, enjoy fellowship and discussion as well as turn their hands to productive work and charity.

“Much of the work is for community projects, charities and individuals who aren’t able to repair items and furniture.

“The shed was founded by local Albion Park resident and former Shellharbour City Council Citizen of the Year Ron Dryburgh who has done a fantastic job driving this project from scratch several years ago.

“Ron has really built up the membership base to a large group of local men and he has invested so much of his own time and effort into this Men’s Shed.

“I look forward to continuing my support for the Albion Park Men’s Shed into the future,” Mr Ward said.

Ron Dryburgh, Coordinator of the Albion Park Men’s Shed also welcomed the funding.

“On behalf of the Men in our shed, I would like to thank Gareth Ward for his continued support for our Albion Park Men's Shed,” he said.

“This funding will enable us for the fit out and completion of our metal working area.

“This project will greatly improve the facility for their needs and will enable them to further carry out additional community projects.

“On behalf of the Shed, we are very pleased that Gareth was able to secure this funding which will be put to good use.

“Our members were very impressed with Gareth’s support for all Men’s Sheds in his electorate and also Gareth’s understanding of what it means to our Men’s Shed members in terms of their health and wellbeing,” Mr Dryburgh said.
