WOW DAY - WEAR ORANGE WEDNESDAY 21ST MAY 2025 AND SUPPORT OUR LOCAL SES VOLUNTEERS AND HEROES

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward today said that Wear Orange Wednesday 21st May 2025 – or WOW Day – is a time to show our region's appreciation for the NSW SES volunteers who support our local communities during storms, floods and other emergencies.

Mr Ward said that WOW Day is an opportunity for people across NSW and Australia to say a simple but meaningful “thank you” to the volunteers who give their time to help others during challenging times.

"This year, WOW Day takes place during National Volunteer Week (19th–25th May 2025) – a week that recognises the contribution of our local volunteers from all walks of life. It is a great moment to highlight the important work of our local NSW SES volunteers and the commitment of its members.

"Let’s all come together in orange to acknowledge their efforts and show that their work doesn’t go unnoticed!" Mr Ward said.

"I acknowledge the SES personnel across the Illawarra, Kiama and South Coast who are our nation's real unsung heroes and first responders to storms, floods, cyclones and rescue missions at all hours 24-7 around the clock.

"They also play an incredibly vital and important supporting role in bushfire emergencies.

"On WOW Day - I say to all of our NSW SES volunteers, 'thank you' for sacrificing your own time and energy - to keep our local communities, towns and villages safe," Mr Ward concluded.
