Mr Ward started a campaign in 2022 for a new school with a deed being signed between the developer, Delfin Lend Lease, and the NSW Government which confirms the new site.

The new school will be located on the corner of Calderwood Road and Escarpment Drive.

The deed includes the dedication of 12 hectares for the provision of two new public primary schools and one high school which will include a special needs unit.

“Growing communities need infrastructure and that includes new schools. I can’t go anywhere in Calderwood without someone raising the need for a new school and I’m so pleased that community pressure means it’s one major step closer,” Mr Ward said.

“Now that we have a site, we need the government to commit to a date to start construction as well as a date when the new school will be operational so that parents can plan for the future of their children.

“So many young families call Calderwood home and this announcement is great news for locals.

“The deed also involves a trigger point for further school infrastructure as development comes on-line.

“Whilst I appreciate the Labor Government will want to take the credit, our community has been campaigning for this for many years and I’m pleased to have stood alongside local parents in this fight.

“I will continue to apply maximum pressure to the NSW Government to ensure this school is delivered as soon as possible,” Mr Ward concluded.
