Independent Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today launched an online petition calling on the NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads to commission an independent audit of the Oak Flats Interchange.

Mr Ward has launched the Petition after having submitted a Question on Notice to the NSW Minister for Transport and Roads in relation to the Oak Flats Interchange.

“The reality is that traffic volumes and waiting times have increased since traffic lights were installed on the roundabout at the interchange for the Princes Motorway, Princes Highway, New Lake Entrance Road and East West Link,” he said.

“The auditor chosen must be independent of Transport for NSW.

“This audit should examine the removal of these lights altogether along with other options to relieve traffic congestion.

“The NSW Government, in the interests of transparency and accountability, has an obligation to commission an independent audit of the Oak Flats Interchange and release the report and its findings to the public,” Mr Ward concluded.
