Ward Condemns Labor Candidate for Gilmore

08 May 2019

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today moved a Notice of Motion in Parliament condemning the Labor Candidate for Gilmore for opposing the funding to upgrade our Princes Highway such as the Albion Park Rail Bypass project.

Mr Ward also congratulated the NSW Berejiklian-Barilaro Government for delivering record investments into our Princes Highway.

“My colleagues Andrew Constance, Shelley Hancock and I have fought to secure a $960 million commitment from the Berejiklian Government for the Princes Highway south of Nowra,” he said.

“In contrast, the Labor Candidate for Gilmore opposed critical funding for the Princes Highway when she was the State candidate for South Coast. This Labor candidate has not changed.

“If you believe investing in local infrastructure is important, you cannot vote for the Labor candidate for Gilmore .

“From the Gerringong upgrade, Berry and Foxground Bypass, South Nowra upgrade, Albion Park Rail Bypass and now the Berry to Bomaderry upgrade – we are getting on with the job of delivering these upgrades. Only a Coalition Government will deliver infrastructure investments.

“One of the reasons I first stood for Parliament was the fix the Princes Highway and I will continue our record of delivering over this next term of Government.

“We have already completed or committed to $2.4 billion in works along our Princes Highway and an additional $960 million to upgrade from Jervis Bay Road to Sussex Inlet Road.

“Unfortunately, the Labor Candidate for Gilmore continues to put her politics first – and local infrastructure last,” Mr Ward concluded.

Mr Ward’s Notice of Motion – 8th May 2019:
