Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has called ‘time out’ on the NSW Government about future plans for Killalea State Park.
“My message to the NSW Government is simple. Your time is up on Killalea. Whatever the decision is, we want to know about your future plans for Killalea,” Mr Ward said.
“Several months ago, I wrote to the NSW Government requesting that Killalea State Park be transferred to NSW National Parks. This would provide greater protection in-line with my election commitment made at the 2011 State Election.
“Given Labor wanted to turn this park into a hotel, I want to do all that I can to protect this pristine part of the NSW coastline that is so special for locals and visitors alike.
“I have previously convened a meeting with Minister Pavey and local residents, I have also spoken with Environment Minister Matt Kean about the transfer.
“My ask has always been simple. Transfer the land from the NSW Holiday Parks Trust to NSW National Parks. It’s time to come clean with your plans,” Mr Ward concluded.
