Ward and Marsh to Move for CCTV in Albion Park

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward and Shellharbour Councillor Kellie Marsh will seek to install CCTV cameras in the Albion Park CBD.

Mr Ward and has spoken with local Police and the Albion Park Chamber of Commence who support the move.

“Residents and business shouldn’t have to put up with unacceptable behaviour on our streets. To those who oppose the installation of CCTV cameras I simply say this – if you are doing nothing wrong you have absolutely nothing to hide.

“As Deputy Mayor of the Shoalhaven, I fought to see CCTV installed in Nowra and I also partnered with Kiama Council as the local MP to install CCTV in the Kiama CBD. I am calling on Shellharbour City Council to work with all levels of Government to install CCTV in the Albion Park CBD.”

Councillor Kellie Marsh said she would be taking a Notice of Motion to the next Council meeting.

“As resident, mother and grandmother I want to feel safe in our community. At the next Shellharbour City Council meeting, I will be seeking Council’s support for funding and grant funding to scope works and deliver CCTV cameras in the Albion Park CBD.

“If you want to come to our community and intimidate and frighten people – we won’t stand for it and this is one important measure that we can undertake to crack down on crime.”

President of the Albion Park Chamber of Commerce Graeme Morrison supports the move.

“Anything that keeps locals and business safe is something we will always support,” Mr Morrison concluded.

Mr Ward has today launched a petition calling on all levels of Government to work together to see the installation of CCTV cameras in the Albion Park CBD. The petition can be found here:
