Racetracks to Benefit from Back to the Track Grants

Regional racing clubs can apply for a share in $400,000 for projects that build stronger links with local communities as part of the NSW Government’s new Back to the Track Regional Racing Grants.

The Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward stated that the new grants program would help attract additional attendance at race clubs and support current and new businesses.

“This new initiative aims to support thoroughbred, harness or greyhound racetracks through encouraging new and innovative ideas,”

Mr Ward continued, “Grants of up to $20,000 are available for projects such as training programs for those wanting to begin a career in the industry, hosting racing events oriented toward new markets or hold sport and community events at the track.

“We want to strengthen links between local racecourses and the communities they serve to ensure country racing continues to thrive in the regions.”

Minister for Racing Paul Toole said racing clubs and racecourses across NSW formed a key part of the social fabric in local communities.

“We would like to see ideas that support and build upon current race meetings, such as markets or small concerts, and encourage more people to these events,” Mr Toole said.

“By attracting people who may never have been to our local tracks before, we can bring our communities together and support our regional racing codes.”
