WARD INVITES PARK TO DAVID BERRY HOSPITAL PUBLIC MEETING

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has formally extended an invitation to the Minister for Health and the Minister for the Illawarra and South Coast Ryan Park to a public meeting on Saturday convened to discuss concerns about the future of David Berry Hospital. 

Mr Ward said organisers have asked him to extend the invitation to the Minister. 

The meeting will be held this Saturday at 2PM at the Berry Uniting Church. 

“Mr Park isn’t just the Health Minister, he’s the Minister for the Illawarra and South Coast. If there was any place he should be, it is at this public meeting this weekend,” Mr Ward said.

“Mr Park needs to front this meeting and explain why NSW Labor continues to refuse to rule out the sale of this hospital. 

“Why won’t Mr Park and NSW Labor rule out the sale of David Berry Hospital? I’ve asked questions in Question Time, we’ve had a public interest debate, I’ve formally written to the Minister but the answer from the government remains that they are ‘considering all options’. 

“The David Berry Hospital site was gifted to the people of our community. It shouldn’t be sold off.

“It’s bad enough that the NSW Government has failed to consult with the community on the closure of services at David Berry Hospital. It’s now time they come clean with their future plans for the David Berry Hospital site,” Mr Ward concluded.
