28 Feb 2022 seniors

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today announced that local seniors who make our local community such a great place to live can be recognised for their efforts and he is urging locals to nominate them for the 2022 NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Awards.

Mr Ward said that nominations are now open until 5pm on Friday 18th March 2022 for the awards program which celebrates the work and many significant achievements of seniors in our local community.

“Seniors are invaluable to the Kiama electorate as volunteers, grandparents, carers and role models – even more so during such a challenging year,” he said.

“If you know a local senior who helps make our community better, inspiring and active, then I encourage you to nominate them for acknowledgement of their contribution.”

Winners of the Local Achievement Awards will be announced during the NSW Seniors Festival which runs from 25th March – 3rd April 2022. The awards program are part of an exciting schedule of events across our State.

“It is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere and enables older people to engage with each other, their community, services and supports.

“The festival and the awards highlight the vital role our seniors play in our local towns and villages across the Kiama electorate,” Mr Ward said.

“This annual festival is about celebrating the positive impact of older people in our families and society.

“These initiatives also provide an important opportunity for seniors to participate in their communities in meaningful and engaging ways.
