WARD TO DEPARTMENT: GET RID OF MOULD

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has used parliament to raise serious concerns by parents, staff and students about the ongoing appearance of mould in student and staff spaces.

Cambewarra Public School students and parents received a works notification on 14 June 2024 advising that three demountable classrooms, a staffroom, library and year 2 classrooms had been severely impacted by mould.

“This situation is unacceptable, and I am advised this is the third time the library has been closed in three years,” said Mr Ward.

“I have been overwhelmed by emails from the P&C, parents and staff at Cambewarra Public School, concerned students and staff are getting sick after exposure to mould spores.

"I would like to thank parents, together with their P&C, for raising these important issues with me out of sheer frustration. Students and teachers should not have to put up with an unhealthy learning environment,’’ Mr Ward concluded.
