Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast Gareth Ward is calling on local residents across our region to nominate local seniors, who make a positive impact in the community, for a 2018 NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Award.

Mr Ward said that these awards are a wonderful way to showcase the talents and contributions of seniors living in our region, as part of the special 60th Anniversary celebrations of the popular NSW Seniors Festival.

“Our local seniors make a real difference to local families, recreational groups, businesses and organisations, and we want to celebrate them,” he said.

“I am sure everybody knows an older person who deserves to be recognised, so I encourage you to nominate them and show them how much they are appreciated for all they do.

“Nomination forms are available in my office or can be emailed to you by calling (02) 4232 1082.

“The 2018 NSW Seniors Festival runs from Wednesday 4th to Sunday 15th April,” Mr Ward said.

The NSW Minister for Ageing, Tanya Davies urged all members of the public to take this opportunity to celebrate the older people in their lives.

“Seniors have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer, and they continue to make significant contributions to communities across NSW,” Mrs Davies said.

“The NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Awards are a special way in which every community can thank local seniors for their hard work, skills and generosity.”

Nominations for the 2018 NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Awards are open from today and will close at 5pm on Friday 30th March.
