Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward has today announced a major $126,638 funding boost for arts and cultural development projects at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre in Wollongong.
Mr Ward, who was joined by Artistic Director Simon Hinton at the funding presentation today, said that he was extremely pleased to secure funding for these projects.
“I’m very pleased that $70,000 funding is through the NSW Government’s Arts and Cultural Development Program to Illawarra Performing Arts Centre Ltd, Wollongong, towards Merrigong Theatre Company and The Disability Trust Actors Ensemble,” he said.
“The remaining $56,638 funding through the NSW Government’s Cultural Development Program – Regional Arts Touring round to Illawarra Performing Arts Centre Ltd, Wollongong, towards the Merrigong Theatre Company production of ‘Letter to Lindy’.
“I am very pleased to continue to support the arts and cultural projects at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, which is produced and managed by the Merrigong Theatre Company.
“This is our region’s premier performing arts complex located in the heart of Wollongong’s Arts Precinct. It is also home to The Social, a unique café and bar boasting an impressive al fresco space,” Mr Ward said.
