Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward has today met with representatives from St Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish Primary School in Warrawong to present them with $30,000 funding under the New South Wales Government’s $20 million Before and After School Care Fund.
Mr Ward said that he was extremely pleased to secure this funding which will provide a massive boost for the students and teachers at this school.
“Under this initiative, local schools can apply for one-off grants to help with the costs of establishing or expanding an existing out of school hours care service,” he said.
“This $30,000 funding will provide a terrific opportunity for St Francis of Assisi to expand their outstanding educational services.
“In its ministry of the church in the Wollongong Diocese, St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School was first opened in 1960 by the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus who led the school until 2001.
“St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School is an engaged Catholic community, inspired by the Franciscan spirit, empowering all learners to reach their full potential.
“I would like to acknowledge the Principal Marg Foldes and her dedicated team of teachers and support staff who do a really tremendous job at this school along with the Parish Priest Father Emanuel Gatt,” Mr Ward concluded.
