Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward has today announced contact information on a proposal for a correctional centre at Kembla Grange.
“Let me be clear – what we have announced is community consultation. The NSW Government has not made any decision on whether or not this proposal will proceed. Our first priority in this process is to consult the community,” Mr Ward said.
“Today is the first opportunity for the community to start providing formal feedback. I can advise that Corrective Services have established a website which provides detail of the proposal.
The website can be viewed here: http://www.correctiveservices.justice.nsw.gov.au/new-prisons/facilities/kembla-grange
For people wanting to email a formal submission, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
“For those without access to the internet, you can ring Corrective Services so that your comments can be recorded. The number to contact is 1800 875 345.
“Rather than announce a decision, I want the community to have the opportunity to weigh up the costs and benefits. The website has a FAQs section which will be of interest.
“I appreciate that people may have more questions, and they should feel free to put those to Corrective Services NSW.
“We will also be holding drop-in sessions, and I will make further announcements about these sessions shortly.
“Yesterday, I briefed all local MPs and I thank them for working with me as we engage the community on this proposal,” Mr Ward concluded.
