Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward has today advised local motorists that changed traffic conditions will be in place from this weekend for work to improve traffic flow through the roundabout at Campbell Street, Flinders Street and Throsby Drive.

The NSW Government has provided $220,000 for the upgrade which will involve changing the lane configuration on Campbell Street to provide two westbound lanes on approach to the roundabout.

Work will be carried out from Sunday 15th to Thursday 19th April between 7pm and 5am, weather permitting.

“There will be temporary traffic changes in place while work is carried out, including the closure of Campbell Street in both directions between Flinders Street and Keira Street.

“A detour will be in place via Keira Street, Gipps Street and Flinders Street for westbound vehicles and the detour for eastbound vehicles will be via Flinders Street, Smith Street and Church Street.

“Residents who live within the closure area will be able to access their property at all times with the assistance of traffic control from the Keira Street end of the closure only.

“Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control. Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience while work is carried out.
