Local Community Sport Set To Recommence At 80 Per Cent Target

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today announced that local community sport will be permitted under the Reopening NSW roadmap at 80 per cent, the following freedoms will apply only to fully vaccinated adults (16+) and those with medical exemptions (staff and patrons).

Mr Ward said that this is welcome news for local sporting clubs who have followed the COVID-19 public health orders up until this point.

“Community sport plays such a huge part of our lives and this is great news,” he said.

“COVID lockdown restrictions have been particularly tough for our local junior and senior players in AFL, soccer, rugby league, cricket, netball, basketball and other popular sporting codes – and this is wonderful news for them all.

“Once we hit the 80 per cent target as part of the Reopening NSW roadmap, community sport will be back in full swing across our region which will be a great relief for many local sporting organisations and teams,” Mr Ward said.
