Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said that tomorrow 3rd December is International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).
Mr Ward said: “Recognised globally on 3rd December, International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations Day that aims to raise awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability,” he said.
“The theme for 2024 is: Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.
“I encourage local residents and community groups and local organisations across our region to get involved with and support this IDPwD.
“As a former NSW Minister for Disabilities, I understand that if we work together, we can challenge perceptions about disability, remove barriers and promote inclusive and respectful attitudes and behaviours in our local communities.
“You can show support for IDPwD by sharing these stories or highlighting your own using the hashtag #IDPwD,” Mr Ward said.
