Funding For Shoalhaven Heads Tennis Club

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today presented funding to representatives from the Shoalhaven Heads Tennis Club to upgrade their facilities.

Mr Ward was joined at this funding announcement by Club Secretary Christine Talbot and other committee members and local tennis players.

“I was extremely pleased to be able to secure this funding under the New South Wales Government’s Local Sport Grants Program which will go towards the installation of a practice wall at the Shoalhaven Heads Tennis Club in Booner Drive,” he said.

“The history of the Heads Tennis Club dates back four decades to 1982 when the first two courts were constructed before the Clubhouse was constructed in 1983.

“With social groups, ladies and men competition, coaching and public hire with amenities available, the Heads Tennis Club plays a very important part of our local community here in Shoalhaven Heads.

“I know that these funds will make a real difference and as your local MP I will continue to fight hard to secure even more funding to upgrade our local sporting and recreation facilities right across our region,” Mr Ward said.

Shoalhaven Heads Tennis Club Secretary Mrs Christine Talbot also welcomed the funding announcement from Gareth Ward MP for Kiama.

“The Shoalhaven Heads Tennis Club is very pleased to receive this funding for a practice wall to complement our established multi-purpose courts and our new pickleball courts,” she said.

“The professional-standard curved practice wall will be a unique piece of equipment in the Shoalhaven area. It will improve the tennis experience for all players as well as promoting health and well-being in older members of the community,” Mrs Talbot said.
