Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today presented funding to representatives from Kiama Downs Surf Life Saving Club Inc to help upgrade their facilities.

Mr Ward was joined at this funding announcement by Club President Brett Schweitzer and Treasurer Jan Horspool during his visit to the club located at 150 North Kiama Drive in Kiama Downs.

“I was extremely pleased to be able to secure this New South Wales Government funding which will go towards a patrol and radio tower,” he said.

“The Kiama Downs Surf Life Saving Club members and volunteers provide an enormous and vitally important service to our local community and help to ensure that our local beaches remain patrolled and our swimmers and beachgoers stay safe.

“So I am absolutely delighted that the funding presented today will help this dedicated team at Kiama Downs SLSC to continue their important work.

“I know that these funds will make a real difference and as your local MP I will continue to fight hard to secure even more funding to upgrade our surf life-saving facilities right across the Kiama electorate,” Mr Ward said.

Mr Brett Schweitzer, President of Kiama Downs Surf Life Saving Club Inc also welcomed the funding announcement from Gareth Ward MP for Kiama.

“This funding will enable Kiama Downs to purchase a patrol shelter that will improve the health and wellbeing of our patrolling members whilst they are on patrol and allowing for greater visibility of the whole beach,” he said.

“We would like to thank Gareth Ward and the NSW Government for the funding to allow for this purchase,” Mr Schweitzer said.
