Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has joined with local representatives from the Illawarra Business Chamber, including Chamber Executive Director Adam Zarth, to announce funding for the continuation of the Illawarra YES program. Mr Ward made the announcement during a visit to the Disability Trust in Fairy Meadow.
“I am delighted to announce today the continuation of the Illawarra Youth Employment Strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity to continue moving our young job seekers into work in various industries such as disability support, building and construction, manufacturing, aged care and many other industries,” Mr Ward said.
The Illawarra Youth Employment Strategy is an integral local level jobs coordinator getting our youth into work. This employment program has assisted 170 young clients, engaged 46 new enterprises and brokered 150 new jobs through the job skill training across the Illawarra.
“This is an excellent result for improving the educational and employment outcomes for young people in the Illawarra. The Illawarra Business Chamber looks forward to delivering the Illawarra YES program for a third year on behalf of the NSW Government,” said Adam Zarth, Executive Director of the Illawarra Business Chamber.
Illawarra Business Chamber member, The Disability Trust, is currently utilising Illawarra YES to prepare, train and trial potential individual support worker trainees, with a view to future employment.
