Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today presented funding to the Illawarra Light Rail Museum located in Albion Park Rail to go towards the purchase and installation of new display cabinets and other related upgrades to the Museum Building to house railway memorabilia.
Mr Ward said that he was extremely pleased to be able to secure this funding under the New South Wales Government’s Community Building Partnerships program.
“I am extremely pleased to have secured this funding for the Illawarra Light Rail Museum which I have strongly supported for the past nearly 11 years since becoming your local Member of Parliament,” he said.
“The Museum does such a fantastic job of putting on regular events for our local community to enjoy this museum which has a tremendous amount of our region’s rail history and nostalgia.
“This funding I am delivering as the local MP as I do every week for local community groups across the Kiama electorate,” Mr Ward said.
“The Illawarra Light Rail Museum is in its 50th year of operation since it was founded in 1972 – and it is a great place for local families who enjoy the museum and also is a great place of fun family time and riding those trains from industrial railways and tramways of yesteryear.
“I would like to acknowledge the Treasurer Brad Johns and the incredible group of members and volunteers for advocating for this funding and for helping to organise this visit and announcement today,” Mr Ward said.
Treasurer Brad Johns from the Illawarra Light Rail Museum also welcomed the funding.
“We very much appreciate the hard work and efforts of our local Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP in helping to secure this funding from the New South Wales Government,” Mr Johns said.
