Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today presented funding to representatives from the Gerrringong Breakers Football Club Inc to upgrade their facilities.
Mr Ward was joined at this funding announcement by Nick Astin and other committee members during his visit to the club at Gerry Emery Reserve in Gerringong.
“I was extremely pleased to be able to secure this funding under the New South Wales Government’s Local Sport Grants Program which will go towards the acquisition of four aluminium junior goal posts which will really benefit the younger players,” he said.
“The history of the Gerringong Breakers dates back several decades to 1985 when they were first established and is it a very popular community based Club which punches above its weight and is well connected to and supported by the local Gerringong community.
“From the Breakers Football Academy, many junior players both girls and boys, no matter the day, opposition, weather or ground, the Breakers juniors always get stuck in and play with a smile on their faces which is terrific to see and also important to maintain their health and fitness.
“I know that these funds will make a real difference and as your local MP I will continue to fight hard to secure even more funding to upgrade our local sporting and recreation facilities right across the Kiama electorate,” Mr Ward said.
Mr Nick Astin from Gerringong Breakers Football Club Inc also welcomed the funding announcement from Gareth Ward MP for Kiama.
“We're grateful to Gareth Ward for securing this incredible grant for our club. It will assist us and our tireless volunteers in providing football to the Gerringong Community. At such an exciting time for our game - the Olyroos and Matildas currently competing at the Olympics and, the Women's World Cup just around the corner - updated equipment will allow the Breakers to continue supporting the consistent growth in our junior ranks.” Mr Astin said.
