Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today announced that there is less than a week left to bring a great idea to life through the NSW Government’s My Community Project, with applications closing at 2pm on Wednesday 15th May 2019.
Mr Ward reminded individuals and community groups to move to finalise their applications for the program, which allows people to propose and choose projects to enhance their local community.
“My Community Project has captured the imagination of people across the Kiama Electorate, who are developing ideas with sponsors to revitalise their local neighbourhood,” he said.
“Hundreds of completed projects ideas have been received, and for those who have started the process the clock is ticking and it is time to ensure you finish and submit you application.
“Once the eligible project applications for each area have been received, the community will be invited to get behind their local projects by casting a vote online for the projects they like the most.
Mr Ward said a total of $24.4 million is available, spread across the State, for projects valued between $20,000 and $200,000 that will make communities more liveable, cultural, accessible, safe, revitalised or healthy.
“This funding was announced during the 2018 Budget and is made possible by the NSW Generations Fund,” Mr Ward said.
“The NSW Generations Fund is a sovereign wealth fund that will help maintain debt at sustainable levels, while also supporting local communities through My Community Project.
“Thanks to the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government’s strong financial management, we have the funds available to partner your great ideas with the experience of sponsors and deliver projects that will make a difference for communities across NSW,” Mr Ward concluded.
