Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today announced funding for Shoalhaven Heads-Berry Football Club for the installation of lighting on field 2 at Vic Zealand Oval in Shoalhaven Heads.

Mr Ward said that he was extremely pleased to have secured this funding from the New South Wales Government.

“This is really fantastic news for the Shoalhaven Heads-Berry Football Club which will help towards the installation of lighting on field 2 at Vic Zealand Oval in Shoalhaven Heads,” he said.

“The Shoalhaven Heads-Berry Football Club is a proud local Club with a great history and it also encourages people of all ages to keep fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

“I will continue to fight for our fair share of funding to invest in these great local projects which should be seen – not as a cost to Government – but as an investment into our community,” Mr Ward said.

Mr Paul Bacchus, Vice-President of Shoalhaven Heads-Berry Football Club also welcomed the funding announcement and said it was welcome news for their Club.

“It has been many years that we have tried to secure approval and funding for the new lights project at Vic Zealand oval. We were really excited to be approved for the grant which will allow us to significantly improve our lighting,” he said.

“This lighting will allow our expanding football club more usable area for training and games at night and not just for the football community. It will be for the whole sporting community so thank you to Gareth Ward.

“The new lighting will allow for greater access to sport and fitness for all in the community and in particular our young people and ladies which has now expanded to 4 senior women’s football teams.

“Without this funding from Gareth Ward we simply could not complete our lighting project.

“Our Club appreciates Gareth Ward’s assistance in helping us to secure this funding – it is greatly appreciated and thank you,” Mr Bacchus said.
