$42,699 Funding Boost for Kangaroo Valley Movie Project

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today announced $42,699 funding to improve amenities at the Kangaroo Valley Hall.

Mr Ward joined with local Kangaroo Valley residents who have strongly advocated for this funding.

“This funding will go towards the Kangaroo Valley Hall Audio-Visual Equipment Installation or ‘Movie Project’ as part of the first round of the New South Wales Government’s $100 million Regional Cultural Fund,” he said.

“In particular, I would like to acknowledge the group of ladies who have driven this project including Rosie Johnson, Diana Jaffray and Sue Hansel.

“This state-of-the-art audio visual equipment will allow the Kangaroo Valley Community Hall to make and show movies for the local Kangaroo Valley community,” Mr Ward said.

Diana Jaffray said that she was very pleased to join with local MP Gareth Ward at the presentation today and to be a part of this wonderful community initiative, which will greatly benefit Kangaroo Valley.

“The Kangaroo Valley Hall is much loved and used by the community and the equipment will only enhance it,” she said.

“The Valley Movies committee had initial financial support from community groups which encouraged them to apply for the Regional Cultural Grant and then many wonderful endorsements from the wider community.

“The Shoalhaven Council has even further enhanced our Hall by removing the asbestos from the old projector room and making it a usable space,” she concluded.
