$18,798 Boost For Albion Park White Eagles Football Club

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has tonight presented $18,798 funding to a packed house of players, officials and representatives from the Albion Park White Eagles Football Club.

Mr Ward, who made the funding presentation tonight during the Club’s annual season launch dinner at Panorama House in Bulli Tops, said that he was extremely pleased to have secured this funding from the New South Wales Government.

“This is really fantastic news because this funding will go towards the installation of covered tiered seating at Terry Reserve in Albion Park,” he said.

“The White Eagles have been absolutely on fire with an outstanding pre-season thus far so far netting 14 goals, 3 more than any other side in the preseason tournament.

“It is a very exciting time right now in local sport, because the Albion Park White Eagles will battle it out with the Corrimal Rangers with the winners to be crowned pre-season champions in the 2019 Fraternity Club Cup Final to be played at Memorial Park in Corrimal this Sunday 17th March with kick-off at 2:30pm.

“The only time the Albion Park White Eagles have taken this trophy was way back in 1998 (back then they were called the Wollongong White Eagles) so I certainly wish Coach Paul Carter and his group of White Eagles players all the best for the Final this Sunday,” Mr Ward concluded.

Mr Frank Zammit, President of the Albion Park White Eagles Football Club has also welcomed the funding announcement and said that it was great news for their Club.

“Firstly, I thank Michael Prodanovic for his technical and civil engineering expertise, Michael initiated this project way back in 2003, providing the initial design and initiating the DA for this project,” he said.

“Michael also facilitating the obtaining of quotes and pricing for the project, without which we could not make our presentations for funding.

“I also thank Goran Nikolic for his major contribution towards facilitating the engineering design and drawings without we wouldn’t be able to start obtaining costs for this project.

“I’m excited that the season is about to officially start, I believe we have three great squads and that 2019 will be successful year all round for our Club.

“So far we have had a great pre-season with a number of trials for all grade at Terry Reserve and away. Results have been very encouraging and matches well attended.

“I congratulate our First Grade team in reaching the Final of the Frat Cup, we play Corrimal this Sunday and if successful will be our first major victory for the season.

“However in saying this, the real comp starts next week with the focus being success at the end of the season.

“We are thankful for Gareth Ward’s ongoing support and commitment by securing this funding which will make such a big difference for our club,” Mr Zammit concluded.
