Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward has today announced that work will start next month to improve pedestrian safety on Lake Entrance Road at Warilla.
Mr Ward said that the NSW Government allocated $220,000 funding to install a signalised pedestrian crossing on Lake Entrance Road at Leawarra Avenue.
“Roads and Maritime Services will carry out the work which includes installing a signalised pedestrian crossing on the western side of the intersection at Lake Entrance Road and Leawarra Avenue,” he said.
“These improvements will provide pedestrians with a more direct route across Lake Entrance Road, improving pedestrian safety and transport connectivity.
“The work is expected to start in May and take about four weeks to complete, weather permitting.
“For the safety of workers and motorists, temporary traffic changes including lane closures will be in place, while some night work may also be required to minimise the impact to motorists.
“The community will be advised of work hours and times closer to the start date,” Mr Ward concluded.
